WELL! I had one of those moments where the name just came to me as I was watching my boys play and thinking about baby Sophia on the way. Mami Bella Nursing Covers. I thought it had a nice ring to it and since EVERY nursing mommy is a beautiful one what better name could there be?

Mami Bella means beautiful Mommy in spanish. :)

Thank you to all who participated though!

Title: Is winter actually starting its departure?
We here in Chicago are notorious for unpredictable weather. We've had days in the 60's to back to 30's in 24 hours. From spring weather to snowfall from one day to the next. Insane! Overdressed one day and undressed another. No WONDER we get sick!
My little ones have been ill and I haven't been feeling all that great either. Oh did I mention I am ready for SPRING!!!!

    Title: NIU SHOOTING
PRAYERS TO ALL NIU STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND FOR THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

I just saw this horrible news ths morning at 2am while I was up late working and my jaw dropped. My niece went there and graduated 2 years ago and when I visited her at the dorm the first thing I noticed was lack of security. Very sad. I can't believe that schools haven't caught on yet regarding the importance of security guards, cameras and metal detectors at all doors. It is very frustrating and heartbreaking. I have 3 boys and a little girl on the way and to think about them going to school anywhere is so scary these days... For the $ many parents are paying these days for "higher" education - security for our babies should be included! No matter how old they are...they will ALWAYS be our babies.

Title: VALENTINE'S DAY HAS A HISTORY
    St. Valentine's Day Story

Celebrating a life of a loving priest ...

In the city of Rome there once lived an emperor known in history as Claudius. Near his palace was a beautiful temple where the priest Valentine served.

The Romans loved him dearly and assembled into the temple to hear his words. When war broke out, Claudius summoned the citizens forth to battle and year after year the fighting continued. Many of the Romans were unwilling to go. The married men did not want to leave their families. The younger men did not wish to leave their sweethearts.

The emperor was angry when soldiers were too few. He ordered that no marriages should be celebrated and that all engagements must be broken off immediately. Many a young Roman went off to the wars in sorrow, leaving his love. Now the good priest Valentine heard of the emperor's command and was very sad. When a young couple came to the temple, he secretly united them in marriage in front of the sacred alter.

Others came and quietly were married. Valentine was the friend of lovers in every district of Rome. But, such secrets could not be kept for long. Word of Valentine's acts reached the palace and Claudius was angry. He summoned his soldiers. "Go! Take that priest in the temple! Cast him into a dungeon!"

In spite of the pleading of his many friends, Valentine was dragged from the temple where a young maiden and a Roman youth stood, ready to wed. In a dungeon Valentine languished and died. His devoted friends buried him in the church of St. Praxedes.

When you go to Rome you can see the very place. It was the year 270, on the fourteenth of February. From all over come customs of sending our friends loving messages on this day. With flowers, with heart- shaped candies, with lacy valentines we honor Love and the good priest who disobeyed Claudius.

Title: 5 mistakes parents make with newborns and how to avoid them-CNN.com
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- When you take your bundle of joy home from the hospital, it's inevitable you won't do everything right. We asked pediatricians for the five most common mistakes parents make with their newborns.

Letting a newborn sleep through the night

"One of the things that makes me cringe is when parents say to me, 'The first night home from the hospital she slept all the way through the night!' " says Dr. Lance Goodman, a pediatrician in Boca Raton, Florida. "I tell them, 'Oh no! She's not supposed to be doing that!' "

Our pediatricians were unanimous: Parents need to wake up their babies to eat every four hours. With a few rare exceptions, newborns should not sleep through the night for the first two weeks of life.

Babies who go too long without eating could become dehydrated, Goodman says. Plus, sleeping eight hours at a stretch might be a sign of severe jaundice. "They might be so lethargic they can't arouse themselves to feed," Goodman says.

So when is it OK to let your baby sleep through the night? "At the two-week checkup, if your baby is gaining weight and sleeping through the night, hallelujah! Go enjoy it!" says Dr. Ari Brown, author of "Baby 411" and a spokesman for the American Academy of Pediatrics. Interactive: Three blogging parents share their mistakes, advice »

    Not feeding on demand

Our pediatricians say new parents sometimes make the mistake of wanting baby to eat on a strict schedule. The doctors say as long as a newborn is eating at least every four hours, they should keep whatever schedule they want.......READ ENTIRE ARTICLE ON CNN.com

Title: Joshua - you can't fly?
My 3 yr old Joshua is so funny. He sleeps on the top bunk of a bunk bed he shares with his older brother Imanni. From other posts you know that we live in a small condo.

I was going to get him down from his nap when I said,
"Josh, can't you fly like Superman?"
He said, "No, and I can't fly like Buzz Lightyear eever."
    "Why not?"
    "Because 'member?"
    "What Josh"
"Buzz fall and broked his arm?"

All I could do laugh - then of course, I carried him down from his bed.
    Just had to share!

Title: Too good to NOT share!!!
HELLO EVERYONE! I decided to post funnies here that I receive from other friends. I received the following story from a friend on my Mod Mami myspace page. SOOOO HILARIOUS that I had to post it here. We all have hair and at some point may have tried waxing unsightly wayward hair. I could relate with this poor soul who found herself in quite a bind...read on and brace yourself for a major laugh fest.
    *******************************************************************

All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal - The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair and now...the wax.

My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: "Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet." So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.

It was one of those "cold wax" kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be? I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. (YA THINK!?!)

So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. ("Cold wax,"

yeah...right!) I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull. It works! OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad. I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinaire.

With my next wax strip I move north. After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship. I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet.Using the same procedure, I apply the one strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my

*hoo-hoo* and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (Yes, it was along strip) I inhale deeply and brace myself....RRRRIIIPPP!!!!

I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! Vision returning, I notice that I've only managed to pull off half the strip. YOUCH!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP!! Everything is swirly and spotted. I think I may pass out...must stay conscious...Do I hear crashing drums??? Breathe, breathe...OK, back to normal.

I want to see my trophy - a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip!

There's no hair on it. Where is the hair??? WHERE IS THE WAX???

Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax.

OOPS! I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair.

Then I make the next BIG mistake...remember my foot is still propped up on the toilet? I know I need to do something. So I put My foot down.

DANG!!!!!!!! I hear the slamming of a cell door.

*hoo-hoo*? Sealed shut! Butt?? Sealed shut!

I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself "Please don't let me get the urge to poop. My head may pop off!" What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!!!

I'll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off, right???

    WRONG!!!!!!!

I get in the tub - the water is slightly hotter than that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit.

Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued together is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub...in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn't melt cold wax.

So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had cement-epoxied myself to the porcelain!!

God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago to have a phone put in the bathroom!!!!!

I call my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter - "So, my butt and who-ha are glued together to the bottom of the tub!"

There is a slight pause. She doesn't know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, "Are we talking cheeks Or who-ha?"

She's laughing out loud by now...I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!! Right!!

I should be the joke of someone else's night.

While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!!

By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need Post-Traumatic Stress counseling for this event.

My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving grace....the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point? I rub some on and OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!

The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my friend.

It's sooo painful, but I really don't care. "IT WORKS!! It works!!"

I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up.

I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair....THE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!

So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I'm numb by now.

    Nothing hurts.

I could have amputated my own leg at this point.

Next week I'm going to try hair color...... Now that's funny ........ Notttttttttt Send this on to other ladies who need a good laugh.

Title: My birthday today and WAY grateful.
It's my birthday today! I'm 36 and so grateful for my life!

Even though there was a major storm here with tornado warnings where it rained for 4 hours and I was stuck in traffic for that long!

Once I got home, bathed the kids and hubby finally made it home safely from work, we dug into a delicious vanilla cake, with vanilla pudding inside, topped with chocolate frosting - my favorite! Hubby and Imanni made it lastnight for me and I couldn't wait to dig into it tonight! We were all - I mean ALL of us - were covered in chocolate tonight. Fingers, arms, faces, shirts - we had a chocolate fest. Little Benny & Josh were unrecognizable! :) Hilarious!

I'm simply so grateful to have my life. It's not perfect by any means. It isn't free from struggles or trials, but I can tell you this...it is definitely the most amazing and rewarding thing to be a Mom and a Wife. To have a husband that adores me and children that love me til no end despite my flaws is a blessing that sadly can so often be blurred by stupid stuff and busyness. This "mini vacation" from my online business has so far opened my eyes to just how quickly children grow and how in a blink of an eye, they can turn from 2 to 12 and how EVERY SINGLE moment is precious, priceless and irreplaceable.

It has been a very cool last week and a half. More than just getting some rest from my sewing machine...

Title: Nap Time Mats & Lil' Benny?
Well today was quite eventful. Along with wrapping up my first FABULOUS ALL IN ONE NAP TIME MAT (picture will be up by Monday!), lil' Benny fell and split his chin open which gave him quick trip to the ER with Daddy today. A little surgical tape and he's as good as new. My hubby called me to let me know that the Dr had to "tie him down" to cut off the piece of "fat" that was hanging out (my apologies to the weak stomached!). AH! My husband said that it was a good thing I wasn't there.

So check back Monday for NAP TIME MAT photos! :)

    Title: PSALM 143
I found this journal loosely floating around from shelf to shelf in my house, until I finally opened it up and read it.

A couple of years ago, I was very much into writing spiritually uplifting pieces as I read through the Bible. Then life happened...kids, new marriage...and it all fell to the backburner.

So now I post this here as a reminder to myself what my first love was...

    Psalm 143

David was losing hope, caught in paralyzing fear and deep depression. At times we feel caught in deepening depression, and we are unable to pull ourselves out. At those times, we can come to the Lord, like David, and express our true feelings, Then He will help us as we remember His works, reach out to Him in prayer, trust Him and decide to do His will. (ie: 143:10 "Teach me to do Your will, for You are my god, may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.")

David's prayer was to be taught to do God's will, not His own. A prayer for guidance is self-centered if it doesn't recognize God's power to redirect our lives. Asking God to restructure our priorities, awaken our minds and stir our wills to be more aligned with His.

I will NO LONGER be offering Swarovski encrusted pacifiers, or Swarovski crystals on Pacifier Clips. Due to receiving a notification tonight regarding the potential of lead exposure through accidental ingestion of SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS, I have removed this option from my paci clips and have removed Swarovski Pacifiers altogether. There is no danger in wearing Swarovski Crystals (as in the case of my wipes cases) the danger is in accidental ingestion.

Thank you for understanding - the safety of children is my number one concern.
